The computing processing and software are hosted and managed remotely, with each user accessing their own personalised workspace over a broadband connected screen. Low functionality, inexpensive, and environmentally friendly devices are then used to connect the screen to broadband.
It's not just about cheaper computing, but better computing. With software upgrades, security and backup being managed by lightapp, PC maintenance is virtually eliminated. lightapp was launched to the education sector in July 2006. Today we're supporting hundreds of organisations and individuals; working closely with educational institutions to tailor cost effective computing solutions to their needs.
Following our success in the education sector we are now piloting a consumer version of lightapp for home users. Initial results have been extremely positive, with over 90% of the first 250 homes using the service two or more times per week.
